11th Story is more than a band—it’s a spiritual and sonic journey. With the mind of a theologian, the eye of a documentarian, and the rhythm of seasoned musicians, singer-songwriter Lora Nigro and composer Kevin Rutkowski produce songs in the alt-pop space that question authority, reframe dogma, and explore the sacred work of understanding both the system and the self.
The newly Tampa-based duo blends dreamy nostalgia with cinematic soundscapes, suffusing truth-seeking into melodies that speak to the essence of humanity. Guest performers on the current releases include bassist Joe Ayoub, longtime member of the American Idol house band and a collaborator with artists ranging from Leonard Cohen and Sara Bareilles to Shakira and Miley Cyrus, and drummer Matt Johnson, whose playing helped define Jeff Buckley’s Grace and whose career spans decades of recording and touring with St. Vincent, Rufus Wainwright, John Mayer, and many others. Together, their contributions add depth, precision, and an unmistakable musical lineage to the project’s expansive emotional world.
Their story began decades ago at a Milwaukee poetry club, where a serendipitous encounter sparked a lifelong creative partnership. Launching as Sometimes Y, the line-up fused with multi-instrumentalist Rob McWilliam and drummer, Jeff Gaudes. The WAMI honored ensemble achieved recognition within the Wisconsin music scene. Their debut LP "I Am"—produced by Vincent Gaudes in collaboration with EMMY winning composer Peter Buffett and mastered by the 12-time GRAMMI acclaimed Bob Ludwig—is a testament to their artistic vision and visceral craft.
